Merit McIntyre has been named president and CEO of Advisors Living, the residential arm of brokerage Boston Realty Advisors, with plans to grow the residential firm throughout the state.
He previously was president of Coldwell Banker New England before launching his own residential firm, Merit McIntyre & Co., in 2019.
“To be able to go from a big box real estate company, sort of a Home Depot if you will, to go to a fast-moving entrepreneurial-led company that’s culture-driven — it’s just so refreshing,” McIntyre said.
Advisors Living represents some $1.8 billion worth of construction projects at various stages in the development pipeline, in markets including Boston, Arlington, Brookline, Carlisle, Newton, Wellesley and Weston. However, demand is still far outstripping supply in almost all sectors of Massachusetts’ housing market.
“The demand in suburban new construction is 2.5 times the supply,” McIntyre said. “For every home that would go on new construction right now, there are 2.5 buyers just for that specific home. We’re very, very sensitive to that, and we know the need.”
McIntyre holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and an MBA from Norwich University.
