North End Average Condo Sale Price Hits $720,000
In Q2 2018, the average sale price in the North End hit a record of $719,362, averaging over $1,017 per-square foot, up 14% since 2017. Just days ago on May 24th, 126 Salem Street PH9 came under agreement for $2,095,000, as another 7 transactions topped more than $1 million since the beginning of 2018. The epitome of walkable city-living, North End has marked itself as a community home to a growing wave of empty nesters.
Unlike every other submarket in Boston, the North End has been able to minimize new developments in between the Cross Street/North Washington and Commercial Street/Atlantic Avenue boundaries. The Chrysanthemum Building drew local controversy but was completed in 2017, adding 9 premium condominiums into the market. Currently, there are only 60 new units planned further indicating how the neighborhood prefers to evolve–slowly!
