Developers have big redevelopment plans for a patch of land currently known as Parcel 3 in Roxbury.
Tremont Crossing is the vision for this incredible new development, that would see almost 2-million square feet of building space constructed by 2018.
The buildings will have something for everyone, with a mix of office space, retail space, residential buildings, a hotel, parking, a movie theatre and a museum. The development will also hold Boston’s first BJ’s Wholesale.
Parcel 3, the official name of the site, is actually Boston’s geographical center and has been vacant for hundreds of years. However, developers see this as a new way to create a mini city within the city.
P-3 Partners is the development team behind the proposal, which has yet to be approved by the BRA. They have worked hard to make sure that the new development will preserve the culture of the area with a 31,000 square-foot museum and additional features that will benefit the surrounding community.
This area has held a special place in residents’ hearts for decades and in the 70’s was protected from I-95 running straight through it, so it was important that the surrounding community was taken into consideration throughout this whole process.
Tremont Crossing could bring a huge new destination for living, shopping and working and another opportunity at huge new development within Boston.
If all goes to plan, the developers believe their vision could be opened for the fall of 2018.
