Bulfinch Crossing is the name for the redevelopment of downtown Boston’s Government Center Garage.
The development covers two blocks and 2,900,000 square feet and will include six buildings. One Congress has been announced as the name for the main high-rise office tower and will be over 500 feet tall.
Plans for Bulfinch Crossing also include one high-rise residential building, one mid-rise and three other mid-rise buildings surrounding a one-acre public plaza. These other three buildings will be an office building, retail space and a condo-hotel hybrid.
In total the development will consist of, 812 residential units, 196 hotel rooms, over 1 million square feet of office space and 85,000 square feet of retail space. There will also be parking spaces included and a one-acre rooftop space.
Developers behind the project, National Real Estate Advisers and the HYM Investment Group, made the plans official this morning and emphasized how the history of the area provided the inspiration for a new urban experience.
The plans include Boston’s tallest apartment tower that will hold 486 residential units. If all goes to plan the project hopes to break ground before the end of the year.
The new development will create a dynamic and exciting space within the city.
