Boston Lacrosse Cares Postgame Statement

Boston Lacrosse Cares, a non-profit arm of the Boston Cannons Foundation, was enthused to have hosted their third annual Boston Lacrosse Cares Shootout at Harvard Stadium on Saturday July 28th.  The 60 minute friendly scrimmage open to college and club lacrosse alums was played in historic Harvard Stadium and was followed by a Major League Lacrosse contest featuring the Boston Cannons and Charlotte Hounds.

Led by co-directors Mike Jezienicki and Ryan Hurd, Boston Lacrosse Cares was able to raise over $10,000 in its 2018 iteration with all proceeds supporting the Boston Chapter of Harlem Lacrosse which seeks to empower children most at risk for academic decline and dropout to reach their full potential on the field and in the classroom.

“Harlem Lacrosse enjoyed participating in the shootout and is very grateful for the support of Boston Lacrosse Cares,” said Adrian Heneveld, director of the Boston Chapter of Harlem Lacrosse. “We have the privilege of introducing lacrosse to young people for the first time and this event was a great way to show how members of the lacrosse community support each other. Harlem Lacrosse provides academic, enrichment, and athletic programming that teach academic and social skills that students need to be successful. We are excited and grateful to use the financial support from Boston Lacrosse Cares to help more students on their path to success.”

Boston Lacrosse Cares would like to thank those that supported its efforts in celebrating a sport that continues to provide opportunities for those that participate.  A special thank you to this year’s sponsors includes BG Events & Catering, Boston Realty Advisors, Medora Ventures, New Balance and String King.  With this year’s fundraise, the three year total raised by Boston Lacrosse Cares exceeds $45,000 in support of charitable endeavors in the Boston community.
